"A Voice for Our Schools through Faith and Integrity"
"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
- St. Francis of Assisi.
As your trustee I will be a strong, honest voice for students, families and teachers; leading with integrity, compassion and dedication.

I want to ensure our schools are places where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive - where strong values shape the decisions that build their future.

This is more than a commitment; it's a promise to advocate for the highest quality and faith-based education.

ABOUT ME
Putting my determination, faith & experience to your service.
My name is Amelia Arriaga, and I am proud to call Canada home for over 14 years. As a Catholic, a mother of two boys in elementary school, and an active member of our community, my heart has always been with the families, teachers, and children in our Catholic schools.

For the past four years, I have served on my children’s school council and volunteered in many ways, always advocating for strong academics, faith formation, and the well-being of our students. My background as a Civil Engineer and Business Administrator, along with experience teaching math and Spanish, has given me both the organizational skills and the classroom perspective to understand the challenges schools face.

But more than my professional background, it is my role as a mom that drives me. I know firsthand how much parents want schools that not only prepare their children academically, but also nurture their faith, values, and sense of belonging. That is why I am running to serve as your Catholic school trustee for Wards 13 and 14—with energy, determination, and a deep commitment to ensuring our schools remain strong communities of learning, faith, and care.
My priorities
I believe Catholic education is a gift for our students, families, and community. I want to serve and make a meaningful impact on our schools and their future.

Faith & Catholic Identity
-
Catholic schools are more than classrooms—they are communities of faith and values.
-
I will work to keep our schools rooted in the teachings that shape character, strengthen families, and guide our children toward a hopeful future.
-
Without being distracted by passing political or ideological trends.

Student/Teacher Success & Well-Being
-
Our children deserve smaller class sizes, strong academics, and the resources to thrive—academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
-
At the same time, teachers need the support and freedom to focus on teaching.
-
I will advocate for better funding, meaningful assignments, disciplined classrooms, and a back-to-basics approach that prioritizes reading, writing, math, and faith-based values.

Community Engagement
-
Parents are essential partners in education.
-
I will ensure that families are heard, informed, and respected in the decisions that affect their children’s learning.
-
Open communication and honest leadership will always guide my work as trustee.

Ethical Leadership & Stewardship
-
Our schools need strong leadership to face today’s challenges—whether it’s growing enrollment, stretched resources, or ensuring fairness in funding.
-
I will work to make thoughtful, transparent decisions that put students first and protect the long-term strength of our Catholic schools.
